If you’re an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into income, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with features he envisioned his courses and students could like after getting frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms needed.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can not deny that online learning is a fast and booming industry. And we would like to take a slice from the ever-growing demand.

It’s ideal for entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners that wish to make online courses to a potentially profitable business. Individuals like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income utilize Teachable to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in courses and training for students all around the world as of now.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the course.

When you register on the site, it leads you to the dashboard. There you will see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and courses. It is pretty straightforward. It is easier for the user to upload files, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

You can integrate as many tools as you need as Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive. You will also find that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large selection of topics for your online course site that you can select to create an appealing landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets region if you’re an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while trying to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.

You can provide your students discounts should they decide to obtain a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles from availing greater plans. It’s a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

You can check student enrollment and engagement when it comes to student monitoring. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

You don’t need to worry about monitoring sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with technology and marketing for you.

Completion Certificates

You’d need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the program. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, color scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you do not have to find a 3rd party for payment processing.

You may choose your payment currency from a broad assortment of choices. You may also create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the choice of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you begin creating your first class. But, if you have any additional questions, you can create a ticket. Usually, you will hear back from service within 24 hours. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat service.

Now that I have talked about what I liked about Teachable, here are some things I don’t like:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a totally free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5% transaction fees
  • There is a 5% transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no phone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you try it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being the most confused about the crowd. However, with Teachable, I found it reasonably easy. Comparable to a duck testing the waters , It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach the way you want to learn by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Delete Teachable Account

You don’t need to worry about marketing. All you’ve got to worry about is making the content that you wish to sell since Teachable has built-in features to look after taxes, payouts, affiliates, and authors.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to focus more on course creation than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.

You can create your online course on any topic you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a company. Why not start today?
