Teachable is the platform for you if you’re an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into income.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms had. He decided to create his online learning platform with features that he envisioned his courses and students could like.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

Here are a few things I don’t like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I enjoyed about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a totally free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There is a 5 percent transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no phone number to contact for queries.

Why should you attempt it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the bunch. But with Teachable, I found it reasonably easy. It does take some time to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out. Akin to a duck testing the waters first.

You don’t have to worry about marketing. All you’ve got to worry about is creating the content you wish to sell since Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors.
