Teachable is the platform for you if you are an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into earnings.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms had. He decided to create his own online learning platform with features he envisioned his classes and students could like.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for approximately $250M.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can not deny that online learning is a fast and booming industry. And we would like to take a slice from the ever-growing demand.

Entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners who wish to make online courses to a potentially profitable business will find using Teachables to be very excellent. Teachable is utilized by individuals like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to market their courses to students.

You also have enterprises like The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

As of this moment, more than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in courses and coaching for students all over the world.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As stated earlier, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech beginners will find it easy to go around and operate the program.

When you register on the website, it leads you to the dashboard. There you may see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It’s pretty straightforward. Uploading files, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communication with students becomes a lot easier for the user.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive making it possible to integrate as many tools as you want. You’ll also realize that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Teachable offers a large selection of topics for your online course website which you can select to make an appealing landing page. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets Area if you are an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need while trying to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.

You can provide your students discounts should they decide to obtain a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing higher plans. It’s a good means of increasing conversions.

When it comes to student tracking, you can check student registration and engagement. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with technology and marketing for you so you don’t need to worry about tracking sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

You’d need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The course will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you don’t need to find a 3rd party for payment processing.

You can choose your payment money from a wide range of choices. You may even create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You also have the option of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you begin creating your first class. But, if you have any additional questions, you can create a ticket. Normally, you will hear back from service within 24 hours. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat service.

Now that I have talked about what I enjoyed about Teachable, here are a few things I do not like:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a totally free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5% transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no phone number to contact for queries.

Why should you attempt it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being very confused about the bunch. But with Teachable, I found it reasonably simple. It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Comparable to a duck testing the waters .

You can teach the way you would like to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Grant Full Access In Teachable Via Zapier

You don’t have to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to take care of taxes, payouts, affiliates, and authors. So all you have to worry about is making the content that you wish to sell.

To Sum It Up

For complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course production than the business’s tech and marketing aspect, Teachable is an approachable platform.

You can create your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a business. Why not start now?
