If you are an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into income, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms needed. He decided to create his online learning platform with features he envisioned his courses and students would like.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for approximately $250M.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can’t deny that we want to take a slice from the ever-growing demand from the quick and booming industry of online learning.

Entrepreneurs, founders, and small business owners that want to make online courses into a potentially profitable business will find using Teachables to be ideal. Folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income utilize Teachable to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

As of now, more than 100,000 creators sold over $1 billion in courses and training for students all around the world.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Going around and operating the program will be found easy by tech novices.

When you register on the website, it leads you to the dashboard. There you will see headers such as users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It’s pretty straightforward. It is easier for the user to upload documents, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

You can incorporate as many tools as you want as Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive. You will also find that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Teachable offers a large choice of themes for your online course site which you can select to make an attractive landing page. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets Area if you are an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you are attempting to analyze your course sales, Teachables has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific phases.

For greater plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles. With this, you can provide your students discounts should they choose to obtain a second course. It’s a good means of increasing conversions.

When it comes to student tracking, you can check student registration and engagement. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with tech and marketing for you so you do not need to worry about tracking sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

To access this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the program. You may change elements of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

You do not need to find a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing through Teachable Payments.

You can select your payment currency from a broad range of choices. You may even generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the choice of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you start creating your first class. But, if you have any additional questions, you can create a ticket. Normally, you will hear back from service within one day. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat support.

Here are some things I do not like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I enjoyed about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5 percent transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no phone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you attempt it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy person out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being very confused about the crowd. However, with Teachable, I found it fairly simple. Akin to a duck testing the waters first, It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach how you would like to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. Hoshin Budo Teachable

You don’t have to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors. So all you’ve got to worry about is creating the content you want to sell.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to concentrate more on course creation than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

You may make your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a business. Why not start now?
