teachable-review

Teachable is the platform for you if you’re an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into income.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with characteristics he envisioned his classes and students could like after getting frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms needed.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

It has a straightforward and intuitive interface which makes it an outstanding platform for beginners. You don’t need to have a virtual assistant or team member to do it because it already deals with your sales tracking, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Alternatively, you can focus more on course building.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can’t deny that we want to take a slice out of the ever-growing demand from the fast and booming industry of online learning.

Entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners that want to create online courses into a potentially profitable business will find using Teachables to be very excellent. Teachable is utilized by individuals like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in classes and training for students all around the world as of this moment.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the course.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the site. There you will see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It is pretty straightforward. Uploading documents, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communicating with students becomes easier for the user.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive making it possible to integrate as many tools as you need. You will also realize that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Teachable offers a large selection of themes for your online course website that you can select to create an attractive landing page. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you’re an advanced user, you have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets region.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while attempting to analyze your path sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific phases.

You can offer your students discounts should they decide to obtain a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing greater plans. It is a good way of increasing conversions.

When it comes to student monitoring, you can check student enrollment and engagement. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

You do not need to worry about monitoring sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with tech and marketing for you.

Completion Certificates

To access this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The course will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the program. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you don’t have to find a 3rd party for payment processing.

You can select your payment money from a broad range of choices. You can also create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You also have the choice of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you begin creating your first course. You can create a ticket if you have any additional questions. Normally, you will hear back from service within one day. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat support.

Now that I’ve talked about what I liked about Teachable, here are some things I don’t like:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There is a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There is no phone number to contact for queries.

Why should you try it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the crowd. But with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Akin to a duck testing the waters .

You can teach how you would like to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Ice Beam Diamond Teachable Pokemon

You don’t need to worry about marketing. All you’ve got to worry about is making the content that you want to sell since Teachable has built-in features to take care of payouts, taxes, affiliates, and writers.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course production than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.

Teachable helps you turn the online courses you may make on any subject you love into a business. Why not start now?
