If you’re an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into income, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with characteristics he envisioned his classes and students would enjoy after getting frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for approximately $250M.

It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need while attempting to analyze your path sales. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.

You can provide your students discounts should they choose to buy another course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing greater plans. It is a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

Completion Certificates

To get this feature, you’d need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the course. You may change elements of your certificate like logo, colour scheme, and preset pictures. Here are a few things I do not like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I liked about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5% transaction fees
  • There is a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no phone number to contact for queries.

Why should you try it?

I am not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it reasonably easy. It does take a while to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out. Akin to a duck testing the waters first.

You can teach how you would like to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. Kellgrace Teachable

You don’t need to think about marketing. All you have to worry about is making the content that you want to sell since Teachable has built-in features to take care of payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors.

To Sum It Up

For complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course production than the business’s tech and marketing aspect, Teachable is an approachable platform.
