Teachable is the platform for you if you are an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into income.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms had. So, he decided to create his online learning platform with features that he envisioned his classes and students would enjoy.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for about $250M.

In A Nutshell Lifebyjazz Teachable

Teachable allows one to make and sell online classes and coaching with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It’s a simple and intuitive interface which makes it an excellent platform for complete beginners. You don’t need to have a virtual assistant or group member to perform it because it already takes care of your sales tracking, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Instead, you can concentrate more on course building.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can’t deny that online learning is a quick and booming industry. And we want to take a slice out of the ever-growing demand.

Entrepreneurs, founders, and small business owners that wish to create online courses into a potentially profitable business will find using Teachables to be excellent. Folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income use Teachable to market their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 creators sold over $1 billion in classes and coaching for students all around the world as of now.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the program.

When you register on the website, it leads you to the dashboard. There you may see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and courses. It is pretty straightforward. It is a lot easier for the user to upload files, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

It is possible to incorporate as many tools as you need as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You will also find that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large selection of themes for your online course website which you can select to make an attractive landing page. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you’re an advanced user, you have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets region.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while attempting to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.

For greater plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles. With this, you can offer your students discounts should they decide to buy a second course. It is a good means of increasing conversions.

When it comes to student monitoring, you can check student enrollment and engagement. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

You do not need to worry about tracking sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with technology and promotion for you.

Completion Certificates

You’d need a Pro or Business Plan to get this feature. The course will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, colour scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you do not need to find a 3rd party for payment processing.

You can choose your payment money from a broad assortment of choices. You may also create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the choice of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you begin creating your first class. You can create a ticket if you have any additional queries. Usually, you’ll hear back from service within one day. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat support.

What Plans can I avail?

Here are some things I don’t like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I liked about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a totally free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There is a 5% transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone support.
  • There is no phone number to contact for queries.

Why should you try it?

I am not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being the most confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. It does take a while to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out. Akin to a duck testing the waters .

You can teach how you would like to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Lifebyjazz Teachable

You don’t need to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to take care of payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors. So all you have to worry about is creating the content you wish to sell.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to focus more on course creation than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

You may make your online course on any topic you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a business. Why not start today?
