If you are an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into income, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms needed. He decided to create his online learning platform with features he envisioned his courses and students could like.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can’t deny that we would like to take a slice from the ever-growing demand from the quick and booming industry of online learning.

Entrepreneurs, founders, and small business owners that want to make online courses into a potentially profitable business will find using Teachables to be very ideal. Teachable is used by individuals like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to market their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in classes and training for students all around the world as of this moment.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As stated earlier, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Going around and operating the program will be found easy by tech novices.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the website. There you may see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and courses. It is pretty straightforward. Uploading files, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communication with students becomes a lot easier for the user.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive making it possible to incorporate as many tools as you want. You will also find that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large choice of topics for your online course site which you can select to create an attractive landing page. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you’re an advanced user, you have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets Area.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you’re attempting to analyze your course sales, Teachables has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.

For higher plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles. With this, you can provide your pupils discounts should they choose to buy a second course. It is a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

When it comes to student tracking, you can check student registration and engagement. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

You don’t need to worry about tracking sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with technology and marketing for you.

Completion Certificates

To get this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the course. You may change elements of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you do not have to get a 3rd party for payment processing.

You can choose your payment currency from a broad assortment of choices. You can also generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the option of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you start creating your first course. Butif you have any additional questions, you can create a ticket. Usually, you’ll hear back from service within 24 hours. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat support.

Here are some things I don’t like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I liked about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a totally free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone support.
  • There’s no phone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you attempt it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy person out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being very confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it reasonably easy. Comparable to a duck testing the waters , It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach how you would like to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Ontario Teachable Subjects

You don’t have to worry about marketing. All you’ve got to worry about is making the content that you want to sell since Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to concentrate more on course creation than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.

You can create your online course on any topic you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a company. Why not start now?
