Teachable is the platform for you if you are an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into earnings.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with characteristics he envisioned his classes and students would enjoy after getting frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms had.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for approximately $250M.

In A Nutshell Powered By Teachable

Teachable allows one to make and sell online classes and coaching with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It has a simple and intuitive interface that makes it an excellent platform for beginners. You don’t have to have a virtual assistant or group member to perform it because it already deals with your sales monitoring, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Alternatively, you can focus more on course building.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can not deny that we would like to take a slice out of the ever-growing demand from the fast and booming industry of online learning.

Entrepreneurs, founders, and small business owners that want to make online courses into a potentially profitable business will find using Teachables to be ideal. Teachable is used by folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises like The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

As of this moment, more than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in courses and training for students all over the world.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Going around and operating the course will be found easy by tech beginners.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the site. There you will see headers such as users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It is pretty straightforward. Uploading documents, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communication with students becomes easier for the user.

Customization

It is possible to incorporate as many tools as you want as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You’ll also find that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Teachable offers a large choice of themes for your online course site which you can select to create an appealing landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets region if you’re an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need while trying to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.

You can provide your pupils discounts should they choose to obtain a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing greater plans. It is a fantastic means of increasing conversions.

When it comes to student monitoring, you can check student registration and engagement. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with tech and promotion for you so you don’t need to worry about monitoring student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

To access this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The course will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the program. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

You don’t have to get a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing via Teachable Payments.

You may select your payment money from a wide range of choices. You can even generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the choice of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you begin creating your first course. You can create a ticket if you have any additional queries. Usually, you’ll hear back from service within one day. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat support.

What Plans can I avail?

Teachable enables customers to choose one of three options: Basic, Pro, and Business.

Here are some things I do not like about Teachable now that I have talked about what I enjoyed about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a totally free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no phone number to contact for queries.

Why should you attempt it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. Akin to a duck testing the waters , It does take some time to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach the way you would like to know by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Powered By Teachable

You don’t need to think about marketing. All you have to worry about is making the content you wish to sell since Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course production than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

You may make your online course on any topic you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a company. Why not start now?
