If you’re an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into earnings, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, decided to create his own online learning platform with characteristics that he envisioned his courses and students could enjoy after getting frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for approximately $250M.

In A Nutshell Resilience As A Teachable Trait

Teachable allows one to make and sell online classes and coaching with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It has a simple and intuitive interface that makes it an outstanding platform for beginners. It takes care of your sales tracking, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Thus, you don’t need to have a virtual assistant or team member to do it. Alternatively, you can concentrate more on course building.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can’t deny that we want to take a slice from the ever-growing demand from the quick and booming industry of online learning.

Entrepreneurs, founders, and small business owners that want to make online courses into a potentially profitable business will find using Teachables to be ideal. Individuals like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income utilize Teachable to market their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in classes and coaching for students all around the world as of this moment.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Going around and operating the course will be found easy by tech beginners.

When you register on the site, it leads you to the dashboard. There you will see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and courses. It is pretty straightforward. Uploading documents, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communication with students becomes easier for the user.

Customization

You can incorporate as many tools as you need as Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive. You will also find that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large choice of topics for your online course site which you can select to create an attractive landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you are an advanced user, you have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets Area.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you’re attempting to analyze your course sales, Teachables has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.

You can offer your pupils discounts should they choose to buy a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing greater plans. It is a good means of increasing conversions.

In regards to student tracking, you can check student enrollment and engagement. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with tech and marketing for you so you don’t need to worry about monitoring sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

You would need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the program. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, colour scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

You do not need to get a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing via Teachable Payments.

You can choose your payment currency from a broad assortment of choices. You can even generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You also have the choice of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you begin creating your first course. You can create a ticket if you have any additional questions. Usually, you will hear back from support within one day. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat support.

What Plans can I avail?

Teachable enables customers to choose one of three options: Basic, Pro, and company.

While Teachable doesn’t have a free version, it does offer a 14-day free trial for people who wish to dip their toes first and take a look at its features before committing.

All plans include unlimited video, classes, and hosting. It also has integrated payment processing, student management, lecture comments, basic quizzes, no fees on free courses, and VAT (value-added tax) for the EU.

Basic ($39/month or $29/month if yearly billing is chosen)

Each of the base features include unlimited students, course merchandise, coaching product, a members-only community, automatic sign-ups, and two admin-level users. You’ll have to pay the monthly fee together with a 5% transaction fee on this plan.

Including everything in Pro plus 20-admin level users, bulk student enrollments, manual pupil imports, custom user functions, innovative theme customization, and group coaching calls. Resilience As A Teachable Trait

Here are some things I don’t like about Teachable now that I have talked about what I liked about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no telephone number to contact for queries.

Why should you attempt it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being very confused about the bunch. But with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Comparable to a duck testing the waters .

You can teach the way you would like to learn by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Resilience As A Teachable Trait

You don’t have to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors. So all you’ve got to worry about is creating the content that you want to sell.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course production than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.

You may make your online course on any topic you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a business. Why not start today?
