teachable-review

Teachable is the platform for you if you are an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into earnings.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms needed. So, he decided to create his online learning platform with features that he envisioned his courses and students would like.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for about $250M.

Teachable allows one to create and sell online courses and training with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It’s a simple and intuitive interface that makes it an excellent platform for complete beginners. You don’t have to have a virtual assistant or group member to do it because it already deals with your sales tracking, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Instead, you can focus more on course construction.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As stated earlier, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech beginners will find it easy to go around and operate the course.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the website. There you will see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and courses. It is pretty straightforward. Uploading documents, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communicating with students becomes a lot easier for the user.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive making it possible to integrate as many tools as you need. You’ll also find that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Users can select to make an appealing landing page with Teachable’s large selection of themes for your online course site. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets Area if you’re an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while attempting to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.

You can provide your students discounts should they decide to buy a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles from availing higher plans. It is a good means of increasing conversions.

In regards to student tracking, you can check student registration and engagement. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with technology and marketing for you so you do not need to worry about tracking sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

You would need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the program. You may change elements of your certificate like logo, colour scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

You don’t need to find a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing via Teachable Payments.

You may select your payment currency from a broad assortment of choices. You can even generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You also have the option of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you start creating your first class. You can create a ticket if you have any additional questions. Usually, you’ll hear back from support within 24 hours. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat service.

Here are some things I don’t like about Teachable now that I have talked about what I liked about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5% transaction fees
  • There is a 5 percent transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no telephone number to contact for queries.

Why should you try it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being very confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it fairly simple. It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Comparable to a duck testing the waters .

You can teach how you want to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Ryan Holiday Teachable

You don’t need to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to look after taxes, payouts, affiliates, and writers. So all you’ve got to worry about is creating the content that you want to sell.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to concentrate more on course production than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

Teachable helps you turn the online courses you can create on any topic you love into a business. Why not start now?
