If you are an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into income, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms needed. He decided to create his online learning platform with features that he envisioned his courses and students would like.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for approximately $250M.

Teachable allows one to make and sell online courses and training with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It has a simple and intuitive interface that makes it an excellent platform for beginners. You don’t have to have a virtual assistant or team member to perform it because it already takes care of your sales tracking, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Alternatively, you can concentrate more on course building.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can not deny that online learning is a fast and booming industry. And we want to take a slice out of the ever-growing demand.

It’s ideal for entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners who want to create online courses to a potentially lucrative business. Teachable is utilized by folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises like The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 creators sold over $1 billion in courses and training for students all over the world as of this moment.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the program.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the site. There you will see headers like users, sites, sales, emails, and courses. It is pretty straightforward. It is easier for the user to upload documents, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive making it possible to integrate as many tools as you need. You will also find that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Teachable offers a large choice of topics for your online course site that you can select to make an attractive landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you are an advanced user, you have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets Area.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while attempting to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific phases.

You can offer your students discounts should they decide to buy a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing higher plans. It’s a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

In regards to student monitoring, you can check student enrollment and engagement. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with technology and promotion for you so you don’t need to worry about monitoring sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

You would need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the course. You may change elements of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you do not have to find a 3rd party for payment processing.

You may choose your payment currency from a wide range of choices. You can even create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the option of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you start creating your first course. You can create a ticket if you have any additional queries. Usually, you’ll hear back from support within 24 hours. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat support.

Here are some things I do not like about Teachable now that I have talked about what I liked about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5% transaction fees
  • There is a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There is no phone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you attempt it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being very confused about the crowd. But with Teachable, I found it reasonably simple. It does take some time to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out. Comparable to a duck testing the waters first.

You can teach how you would like to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Scriptures On Leading A Teachable Life

You don’t have to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to take care of taxes, payouts, affiliates, and writers. So all you have to worry about is creating the content you want to sell.

To Sum It Up

For complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to focus more on course creation than the business’s tech and marketing aspect, Teachable is an approachable platform.

Teachable helps you turn the online courses you can create on any subject you love into a company. Why not start today?
