Teachable is the platform for you if you’re an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into income.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms needed. He decided to create his online learning platform with features that he envisioned his classes and students would enjoy.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for approximately $250M.

We can not deny that online learning is a fast and booming industry. And we want to take a slice from the ever-growing demand.

It’s ideal for entrepreneurs, founders, and small business owners who wish to make online courses into a potentially profitable business. Teachable is utilized by folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to market their courses to students.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the program.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the site. There you will see headers such as users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It is pretty straightforward. It is a lot easier for the user to upload files, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

You can incorporate as many tools as you want as Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive. You’ll also find that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large selection of topics for your online course website which you can select to make an attractive landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you’re an advanced user, you have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets region.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need while attempting to analyze your path sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.

For higher plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages. With this, you can provide your students discounts should they decide to buy another course. It is a good means of increasing conversions.

In regards to student tracking, you can check student registration and engagement. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

You don’t need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with technology and promotion for you.

Completion Certificates

To get this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, colour scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

You don’t need to get a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing through Teachable Payments.

You can select your payment money from a broad range of choices. You may even create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Now that I’ve talked about what I liked about Teachable, here are a few things I don’t like:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5% transaction fees
  • There is a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone support.
  • There is no phone number to contact for queries.

Why should you attempt it?

I am not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the crowd. But with Teachable, I found it fairly simple. Comparable to a duck testing the waters , It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach how you would like to learn by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Cofounder

You don’t have to think about marketing. All you have to worry about is creating the content that you want to sell since Teachable has built-in features to take care of taxes, payouts, affiliates, and authors.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to concentrate more on course creation than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.

You may make your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a company. Why not start now?
