teachable-review

Teachable is the platform for you if you are an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into earnings.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, decided to create his own online learning platform with features he envisioned his classes and students could enjoy after getting frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms had.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for approximately $250M.

In A Nutshell Teachable Craft5K

Teachable allows one to make and sell online courses and coaching with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It has a simple and intuitive interface that makes it an excellent platform for complete beginners. It deals with your sales monitoring, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Thus, you don’t need to have a virtual assistant or team member to perform it. Alternatively, you can focus more on course construction.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can’t deny that we would like to take a slice from the ever-growing demand from the quick and booming industry of online learning.

It’s ideal for entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners who want to make online courses into a potentially lucrative business. Teachable is utilized by individuals like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to market their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

As of this moment, more than 100,000 creators sold over $1 billion in courses and training for students all over the world.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the course.

When you register on the site, it leads you to the dashboard. There you may see headers such as users, sites, sales, emails, and courses. It is pretty straightforward. Uploading files, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communicating with students becomes a lot easier for the user.

Customization

You can integrate as many tools as you want as Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive. You’ll also realize that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Users can select to make an attractive landing page with Teachable’s large selection of topics for your online course site. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets Area if you are an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you are attempting to analyze your course sales, Teachables has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.

You can offer your students discounts should they decide to buy a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing greater plans. It’s a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

When it comes to student tracking, you can check student registration and engagement. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with technology and marketing for you so you do not need to worry about monitoring student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

To access this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, colour scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

You do not need to find a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing via Teachable Payments.

You may choose your payment money from a wide assortment of choices. You may even create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the option of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you start creating your first class. But, if you have any additional questions, you can create a ticket. Normally, you will hear back from support within one day. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat service.

Teachable allows customers to choose among three options: Basic, Pro, and company.

Here are a few things I do not like about Teachable now that I have talked about what I liked about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no telephone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you try it?

I am not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being very confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. Akin to a duck testing the waters , It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach the way you want to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Craft5K

You don’t need to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to take care of payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors. So all you’ve got to worry about is making the content you wish to sell.

To Sum It Up

For complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to focus more on course production than the business’s technology and marketing aspect, Teachable is an approachable platform.

You can create your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a company. Why not start now?
