Teachable is the platform for you if you are an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into earnings.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with characteristics that he envisioned his classes and students would enjoy after getting frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for approximately $250M.

We can’t deny that online learning is a quick and booming industry. And we want to take a slice out of the ever-growing demand.

More than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in classes and training for students all over the world as of this moment.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Tech beginners will find it easy to go around and operate the program.

When you register on the site, it leads you to the dashboard. There you may see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It’s pretty straightforward. It is a lot easier for the user to upload documents, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive making it possible to incorporate as many tools as you want. You will also find that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Users can select to create an attractive landing page with Teachable’s large selection of topics for your online course website. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you are an advanced user, you have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets Area.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while trying to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.

You can offer your students discounts should they choose to buy another course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing greater plans. It’s a good way of increasing conversions.

You can check student enrollment and engagement in regards to student tracking. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with technology and promotion for you so you do not need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

To get this feature, you’d need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the program. You may change elements of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing via Teachable Payments. With this, you do not have to find a 3rd party for payment processing.

You can select your payment money from a broad range of choices. You can even create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the option of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you start creating your first class. You can create a ticket if you have any additional queries. Normally, you’ll hear back from support within one day. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat support.

Here are some things I don’t like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I enjoyed about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There is a 5 percent transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There is no phone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you attempt it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being very confused about the crowd. However, with Teachable, I found it fairly simple. It does take some time to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out. Akin to a duck testing the waters first.

You can teach the way you would like to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Direct Checkout Url

You don’t need to worry about marketing. All you have to worry about is creating the content you wish to sell since Teachable has built-in features to look after taxes, payouts, affiliates, and writers.

To Sum It Up

For complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to concentrate more on course production than the business’s technology and marketing aspect, Teachable is an approachable platform.

You can create your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a company. Why not start now?
