teachable-review

Teachable is the platform for you if you’re an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into earnings.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with characteristics he envisioned his classes and students could enjoy after getting frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for approximately $250M.

In A Nutshell Teachable Forms

Teachable allows one to make and sell online courses and coaching with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It’s a simple and intuitive interface which makes it an outstanding platform for beginners. It takes care of your sales monitoring, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Thus, you don’t need to have a virtual assistant or team member to do it. Instead, you can concentrate more on course construction.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can not deny that we want to take a slice from the ever-growing demand from the fast and booming industry of online learning.

It’s ideal for entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners who want to make online courses into a potentially profitable business. Folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income use Teachable to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in classes and training for students all around the world as of this moment.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As mentioned earlier, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Going around and operating the program will be found easy by tech novices.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the website. There you will see headers like users, sites, sales, emails, and courses. It’s pretty straightforward. It is a lot easier for the user to upload documents, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

You can integrate as many tools as you want as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You’ll also realize that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Teachable offers a large selection of topics for your online course site which you can select to make an attractive landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets Area if you are an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you’re trying to analyze your course sales, Teachables has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.

You can offer your students discounts should they choose to obtain another course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles from availing greater plans. It’s a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

When it comes to student tracking, you can check student registration and engagement. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with technology and promotion for you so you don’t need to worry about monitoring sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

To get this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The course will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, colour scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

You do not have to get a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing via Teachable Payments.

You may choose your payment currency from a broad range of choices. You may even generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the option of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you start creating your first class. You can create a ticket if you have any additional queries. Normally, you will hear back from support within 24 hours. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat service.

Now that I have talked about what I enjoyed about Teachable, here are a few things I do not like:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a totally free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5% transaction fees
  • There’s a 5% transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no telephone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you attempt it?

I am not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it reasonably simple. It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Comparable to a duck testing the waters .

You can teach the way you want to learn by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Forms

You don’t have to worry about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to look after taxes, payouts, affiliates, and writers. So all you have to worry about is making the content you wish to sell.

To Sum It Up

For complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course production than the business’s tech and marketing aspect, Teachable is an approachable platform.

You may make your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a company. Why not start today?
