If you are an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into earnings, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms needed. He decided to create his own online learning platform with characteristics that he envisioned his courses and students could enjoy.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

In A Nutshell Teachable Josh Wright

Teachable allows one to create and sell online classes and coaching with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It has a simple and intuitive interface that makes it an outstanding platform for beginners. You don’t have to have a virtual assistant or group member to do it because it already deals with your sales monitoring, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Alternatively, you can concentrate more on course construction.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can not deny that we would like to take a slice out of the ever-growing demand from the quick and booming industry of online learning.

It’s excellent for entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners that want to create online courses into a potentially lucrative business. Teachable is used by folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to market their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 creators sold over $1 billion in classes and coaching for students all around the world as of this moment.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As mentioned earlier, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Going around and operating the program will be found easy by tech beginners.

When you register on the website, it leads you to the dashboard. There you may see headers such as users, sites, sales, emails, and courses. It’s pretty straightforward. It is a lot easier for the user to upload files, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

You can integrate as many tools as you need as Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive. You’ll also realize that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Teachable offers a large selection of topics for your online course website which you can select to create an appealing landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you’re an advanced user, you have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets Area.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you’re attempting to analyze your course sales, Teachables has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific phases.

For higher plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages. With this, you can provide your pupils discounts should they choose to obtain another course. It’s a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

When it comes to student tracking, you can check student enrollment and engagement. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with tech and marketing for you so you don’t need to worry about monitoring sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

You’d need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the course. You may change elements of your certificate such as logo, colour scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

You do not have to find a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments.

You can choose your payment money from a broad assortment of choices. You may also create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the option of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you start creating your first class. You can create a ticket if you have any additional questions. Usually, you’ll hear back from service within one day. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat service.

Now that I’ve talked about what I enjoyed about Teachable, here are a few things I do not like:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone support.
  • There’s no telephone number to contact for queries.

Why should you attempt it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the crowd. However, with Teachable, I found it reasonably easy. Comparable to a duck testing the waters , It does take a while to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach how you would like to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Josh Wright

You don’t have to worry about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to take care of payouts, taxes, affiliates, and writers. So all you’ve got to worry about is making the content that you want to sell.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course creation than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

Teachable helps you turn the online courses you may make on any topic you love into a business. Why not start today?
