If you are an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into earnings, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, decided to create his own online learning platform with characteristics that he envisioned his courses and students could like after getting frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms needed.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for about $250M.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the program.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the site. There you may see headers such as users, sites, sales, emails, and classes. It is pretty straightforward. Uploading documents, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communicating with students becomes easier for the user.

Customization

You can incorporate as many tools as you want as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You’ll also find that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large choice of themes for your online course website which you can select to make an appealing landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets Area if you are an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you are attempting to analyze your path sales, Teachables has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.

You can offer your students discounts should they decide to obtain a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles from availing greater plans. It’s a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

You can check student registration and engagement when it comes to student tracking. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with tech and marketing for you so you do not need to worry about tracking sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

You would need a Pro or Business Plan to get this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, color scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

You do not have to find a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments.

You may select your payment money from a broad assortment of choices. You may also create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You also have the option of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you begin creating your first course. But, if you have any additional queries, you can create a ticket. Usually, you’ll hear back from support within 24 hours. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat support.

Here are some things I do not like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I liked about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There is a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There is no phone number to contact for queries.

Why should you try it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being very confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it fairly simple. Akin to a duck testing the waters first, It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach how you would like to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Maps

You don’t need to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to take care of taxes, payouts, affiliates, and writers. So all you’ve got to worry about is making the content that you wish to sell.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course production than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

You may make your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a business. Why not start today?
