If you’re an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into income, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms needed. So, he decided to create his online learning platform with characteristics he envisioned his classes and students would enjoy.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for about $250M.

In A Nutshell Teachable Momen

Teachable allows one to create and sell online classes and coaching with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It’s a simple and intuitive interface which makes it an excellent platform for complete beginners. You don’t have to have a virtual assistant or team member to perform it because it already takes care of your sales monitoring, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Instead, you can concentrate more on course building.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can not deny that we would like to take a slice out of the ever-growing demand from the fast and booming industry of online learning.

It’s excellent for entrepreneurs, founders, and small business owners who wish to create online courses to a potentially profitable business. Folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income utilize Teachable to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises like The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

As of now, more than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in courses and coaching for students all around the world.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Going around and operating the program will be found easy by tech beginners.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the website. There you will see headers like users, sites, sales, emails, and classes. It’s pretty straightforward. It is a lot easier for the user to upload files, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

It is possible to integrate as many tools as you need as Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive. You will also find that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large choice of topics for your online course website that you can select to create an appealing landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you are an advanced user, you have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets Area.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you are attempting to analyze your course sales, Teachables has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.

You can offer your pupils discounts should they decide to buy a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing higher plans. It’s a fantastic means of increasing conversions.

You can check student enrollment and engagement when it comes to student tracking. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

You don’t need to worry about monitoring student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with tech and promotion for you.

Completion Certificates

To get this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the program. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, colour scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you don’t have to get a 3rd party for payment processing.

You may choose your payment currency from a broad range of choices. You can even create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You also have the choice of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you start creating your first class. You can create a ticket if you have any additional questions. Usually, you’ll hear back from support within one day. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat service.

What Plans can I avail?

Teachable allows customers to choose one of three options: Basic, Pro, and Business.

While Teachable does not have a free version, it does offer a 14-day free trial for people who wish to dip their toes first and check out its features before committing.

All plans include unlimited video, classes, and hosting. It also has integrated payment processing, pupil management, lecture comments, basic quizzes, no fees on free courses, and VAT (value-added tax) for the EU.

Basic ($39/month or $29/month if annual billing is chosen)

Each of the base features include unlimited students, class merchandise, coaching product, a members-only community, automated sign-ups, and two admin-level users. You’ll need to pay the monthly fee together with a 5% transaction fee on this plan.

Including everything in Pro plus 20-admin level users, bulk student enrollments, manual pupil imports, custom user roles, innovative theme customization, and group coaching calls. Teachable Momen

Here are a few things I don’t like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I enjoyed about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5 percent transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There is no phone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you try it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy person out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being very confused about the bunch. But with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. Comparable to a duck testing the waters , It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach the way you would like to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Momen

You don’t have to think about marketing. All you have to worry about is making the content you wish to sell since Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to concentrate more on course creation than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

You can create your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a company. Why not start now?
