If you’re an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into earnings, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had. So, he decided to create his own online learning platform with features he envisioned his courses and students could enjoy.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for approximately $250M.

We can’t deny that online learning is a fast and booming industry. And we would like to take a slice from the ever-growing demand.

It’s ideal for entrepreneurs, founders, and small business owners who want to create online courses to a potentially lucrative business. Individuals like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income utilize Teachable to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises like The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Going around and operating the course will be found easy by tech novices.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the website. There you will see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It is pretty straightforward. It is easier for the user to upload documents, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive making it possible to incorporate as many tools as you need. You’ll also realize that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large selection of themes for your online course website which you can select to create an attractive landing page. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets region if you are an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you’re attempting to analyze your course sales, Teachables has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific phases.

For greater plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages. With this, you can offer your pupils discounts should they choose to buy another course. It is a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

You can check student enrollment and engagement when it comes to student monitoring. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with technology and marketing for you so you don’t need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

You would need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, colour scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you don’t need to find a 3rd party for payment processing.

You may choose your payment currency from a wide assortment of choices. You may also create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You also have the option of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you begin creating your first class. You can create a ticket if you have any additional queries. Normally, you will hear back from service within one day. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat service.

Here are some things I don’t like about Teachable now that I have talked about what I enjoyed about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5% transaction fees
  • There’s a 5 percent transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no phone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you try it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being very confused about the crowd. But with Teachable, I found it reasonably simple. Akin to a duck testing the waters first, It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach how you would like to learn by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Mommy Prana

You don’t have to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and writers. So all you’ve got to worry about is making the content you want to sell.

To Sum It Up

For complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to focus more on course creation than the business’s technology and marketing aspect, Teachable is an approachable platform.

You may make your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a business. Why not start today?
