teachable-review

Teachable is the platform for you if you’re an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into earnings.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had. He decided to create his online learning platform with characteristics that he envisioned his classes and students could enjoy.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for approximately $250M.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can’t deny that online learning is a quick and booming industry. And we would like to take a slice out of the ever-growing demand.

It’s excellent for entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners who want to create online courses to a potentially profitable business. Teachable is used by folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to market their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

As of now, more than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in classes and training for students all around the world.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the course.

When you register on the website, it leads you to the dashboard. There you may see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It’s pretty straightforward. It is easier for the user to upload files, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive making it possible to integrate as many tools as you need. You’ll also find that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Teachable offers a large choice of topics for your online course website which you can select to make an appealing landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets region if you are an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you are attempting to analyze your course sales, Teachables has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.

For higher plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages. With this, you can offer your pupils discounts should they choose to obtain another course. It’s a fantastic means of increasing conversions.

You can check student registration and engagement in regards to student monitoring. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

You don’t need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with tech and marketing for you.

Completion Certificates

You’d need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the program. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, colour scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing via Teachable Payments. With this, you don’t need to get a 3rd party for payment processing.

You may choose your payment money from a wide range of choices. You may even generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the option of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you begin creating your first class. You can create a ticket if you have any additional queries. Usually, you’ll hear back from support within one day. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat support.

Here are a few things I do not like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I liked about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5% transaction fees
  • There is a 5% transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no telephone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you attempt it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy person out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being the most confused about the crowd. But with Teachable, I found it reasonably simple. It does take a while to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out. Akin to a duck testing the waters .

You can teach the way you would like to know by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Students Are Not Showing Up On Convertkit Subscribers

You don’t have to think about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors. So all you’ve got to worry about is making the content you want to sell.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course production than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

Teachable helps you turn the online courses you can create on any subject you love into a company. Why not start today?
