If you’re an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into income, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, decided to create his online learning platform with features he envisioned his classes and students could enjoy after getting frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for about $250M.

In A Nutshell Teachable Tribe

Teachable allows one to make and sell online courses and training with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It’s a straightforward and intuitive interface which makes it an excellent platform for complete beginners. You don’t need to have a virtual assistant or team member to do it because it already deals with your sales tracking, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Instead, you can focus more on course building.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can’t deny that online learning is a fast and booming industry. And we want to take a slice from the ever-growing demand.

Entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners that wish to create online courses to a potentially lucrative business will find using Teachables to be very excellent. Folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income use Teachable to market their courses to students.

You also have enterprises like The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

As of now, more than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in courses and training for students all over the world.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its ease of use. Going around and operating the program will be found easy by tech beginners.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the site. There you will see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It is pretty straightforward. Uploading files, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communication with students becomes a lot easier for the user.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive making it possible to integrate as many tools as you need. You’ll also find that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Users can select to make an attractive landing page with Teachable’s large choice of topics for your online course website. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you are an advanced user, you have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets Area.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while attempting to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific phases.

For greater plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages. With this, you can provide your pupils discounts should they choose to obtain another course. It’s a good means of increasing conversions.

You can check student enrollment and engagement in regards to student monitoring. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

You do not need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with tech and marketing for you.

Completion Certificates

To access this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the program. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, color scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you do not have to find a 3rd party for payment processing.

You may choose your payment currency from a wide range of choices. You may even generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the choice of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you start creating your first course. But, if you have any additional queries, you can create a ticket. Usually, you will hear back from support within 24 hours. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat support.

Now that I have talked about what I enjoyed about Teachable, here are a few things I don’t like:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a totally free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5 percent transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone support.
  • There’s no telephone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you try it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy person out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being very confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it reasonably easy. It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Akin to a duck testing the waters .

You can teach how you want to learn by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Tribe

You don’t have to worry about marketing. All you’ve got to worry about is making the content that you wish to sell since Teachable has built-in features to take care of taxes, payouts, affiliates, and writers.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course creation than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.

Teachable helps you turn the online courses you can create on any topic you love into a business. Why not start today?
