If you are an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into earnings, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms needed. He decided to create his online learning platform with features he envisioned his classes and students could enjoy.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for approximately $250M.

In A Nutshell Teachable Video Format Upload

Teachable allows one to create and sell online classes and coaching with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It’s a simple and intuitive interface that makes it an excellent platform for beginners. You don’t have to have a virtual assistant or team member to perform it because it already deals with your sales monitoring, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Instead, you can focus more on course building.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can not deny that we would like to take a slice out of the ever-growing demand from the quick and booming industry of online learning.

It’s ideal for entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners who want to make online courses to a potentially profitable business. Folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income utilize Teachable to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises like The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

As of this moment, more than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in courses and coaching for students all around the world.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Going around and operating the course will be found easy by tech novices.

When you register on the site, it leads you to the dashboard. There you will see headers such as users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It’s pretty straightforward. Uploading files, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communicating with students becomes easier for the user.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is pretty extensive making it possible to integrate as many tools as you want. You will also realize that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Users can select to create an attractive landing page with Teachable’s large choice of topics for your online course site. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets Area if you are an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while trying to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.

For greater plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles. With this, you can provide your pupils discounts should they decide to obtain a second course. It is a fantastic means of increasing conversions.

When it comes to student monitoring, you can check student enrollment and engagement. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with technology and promotion for you so you don’t need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

To get this feature, you’d need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate like logo, colour scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

You don’t have to get a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing through Teachable Payments.

You may select your payment money from a wide range of choices. You may also generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You also have the option of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you begin creating your first course. You can create a ticket if you have any additional questions. Normally, you’ll hear back from service within 24 hours. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat support.

Here are some things I do not like about Teachable now that I have talked about what I enjoyed about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable does not have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5 percent transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone support.
  • There’s no telephone number to contact for queries.

Why should you try it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy person out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the bunch. However, with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Akin to a duck testing the waters .

You can teach the way you want to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Video Format Upload

You don’t need to think about marketing. All you’ve got to worry about is making the content that you wish to sell since Teachable has built-in features to take care of taxes, payouts, affiliates, and authors.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course production than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.

You may make your online course on any topic you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a company. Why not start now?
