If you are an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into earnings, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms needed. He decided to create his online learning platform with features that he envisioned his courses and students would like.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

You don’t have to have a virtual assistant or team member to do it because it already deals with your sales tracking, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Alternatively, you can concentrate more on course construction.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can’t deny that online learning is a fast and booming industry. And we would like to take a slice out of the ever-growing demand.

It’s ideal for entrepreneurs, founders, and small business owners that wish to make online courses into a potentially profitable business. Teachable is utilized by folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to market their courses to students.

You also have enterprises like The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 creators sold over $1 billion in classes and coaching for students all over the world as of this moment.

Here are some of the features I liked in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As mentioned earlier, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Going around and operating the course will be found easy by tech novices.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the site. There you will see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and courses. It is pretty straightforward. Uploading files, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communication with students becomes a lot easier for the user.

Customization

It is possible to integrate as many tools as you want as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You’ll also realize that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large choice of themes for your online course website which you can select to make an appealing landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets Area if you are an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you are trying to analyze your path sales, Teachables has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.

You can offer your students discounts should they choose to buy a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages from availing higher plans. It is a good way of increasing conversions.

When it comes to student monitoring, you can check student enrollment and engagement. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with technology and marketing for you so you don’t need to worry about tracking sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

You would need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The course will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you do not have to find a 3rd party for payment processing.

You can select your payment money from a wide range of choices. You can also generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the choice of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you start creating your first course. But, if you have any additional queries, you can create a ticket. Usually, you’ll hear back from service within 24 hours. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat service.

Here are a few things I don’t like about Teachable now that I have talked about what I enjoyed about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a totally free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5% transaction fees
  • There’s a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone support.
  • There’s no telephone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you attempt it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being very confused about the bunch. But with Teachable, I found it fairly simple. Comparable to a duck testing the waters first, It does take a while to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach the way you would like to learn by utilizing customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Webinar

You don’t have to worry about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to take care of payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors. So all you’ve got to worry about is making the content that you wish to sell.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to concentrate more on course production than the business’s tech and marketing aspect.

You can create your online course on any subject you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a business. Why not start today?
