teachable-review

Teachable is the platform for you if you are an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into income.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously called Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct access to students some platforms had. He decided to create his online learning platform with characteristics he envisioned his classes and students would like.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for approximately $250M.

We can’t deny that we want to take a slice from the ever-growing demand from the quick and booming industry of online learning.

Entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners that wish to make online courses into a potentially profitable business will find using Teachables to be ideal. Teachable is utilized by individuals like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises like The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in classes and training for students all around the world as of now.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As stated previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech beginners will find it easy to go around and operate the program.

When you register on the site, it leads you to the dashboard. There you will see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and courses. It is pretty straightforward. Uploading documents, reviewing analytics, issuing refunds, and communicating with students becomes a lot easier for the user.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive making it possible to incorporate as many tools as you want. You’ll also realize that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large selection of topics for your online course site that you can select to make an appealing landing page. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and select color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets region if you’re an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

When you’re attempting to analyze your course sales, Teachables has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.

For higher plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles. With this, you can provide your pupils discounts should they decide to obtain a second course. It’s a good means of increasing conversions.

You can check student registration and engagement in regards to student monitoring. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

Teachable deals with tech and promotion for you so you do not need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards.

Completion Certificates

To access this feature, you would need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, colour scheme, and pre-set images. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you don’t have to find a 3rd party for payment processing.

You can select your payment currency from a wide assortment of choices. You can also generate coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Your students can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You also have the option of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you begin creating your first class. You can create a ticket if you have any additional queries. Normally, you’ll hear back from service within 24 hours. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat support.

Here are a few things I don’t like about Teachable now that I’ve talked about what I liked about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There is a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There is no telephone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you try it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy person out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being very confused about the bunch. But with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. Akin to a duck testing the waters , It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach how you want to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. The Copy Cure Teachable

You don’t have to worry about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to look after taxes, payouts, affiliates, and authors. So all you’ve got to worry about is making the content you want to sell.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to concentrate more on course creation than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

Teachable helps you turn the online courses you can create on any topic you love into a business. Why not start now?
