teachable-review

Teachable is the platform for you if you are an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into earnings.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms needed. He decided to create his own online learning platform with characteristics he envisioned his courses and students would like.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for about $250M.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a tech headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the program.

When you register on the website, it leads you to the dashboard. There you may see headers such as users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It is pretty straightforward. It is easier for the user to upload documents, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

It is possible to incorporate as many tools as you want as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You’ll also find that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Users can select to create an appealing landing page with Teachable’s large selection of topics for your online course site. All you’ve got to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you are an advanced user, you have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets Area.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while trying to analyze your path sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific periods.

For higher plans, you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and packages. With this, you can provide your students discounts should they decide to obtain another course. It is a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

You can check student enrollment and engagement when it comes to student tracking. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

You do not need to worry about tracking student and sales insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with technology and marketing for you.

Completion Certificates

To get this feature, you’d need a Pro or Business Plan. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the program. You may change elements of your certificate such as logo, colour scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

You do not have to get a 3rd party for payment processing as Teachable comes with its in-built payment processing via Teachable Payments.

You may choose your payment currency from a broad range of choices. You may also create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will manage affiliate payouts automatically.

Now that I’ve talked about what I enjoyed about Teachable, here are some things I don’t like:

  • Teachable does not have a free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5 percent transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There is no phone number to contact for queries.

Why should you try it?

I am not the most tech-savvy person out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the crowd. But with Teachable, I found it fairly simple. Akin to a duck testing the waters first, It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach how you want to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. Virtua Savvy Teachable

You don’t need to think about marketing. All you’ve got to worry about is making the content that you wish to sell since Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and authors.
