teachable-review

Teachable is the platform for you if you are an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into earnings.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms had. He decided to create his own online learning platform with characteristics that he envisioned his classes and students would enjoy.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

In A Nutshell Teachable Princeables

Teachable allows one to make and sell online classes and training with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It’s a straightforward and intuitive interface which makes it an outstanding platform for complete beginners. You don’t have to have a virtual assistant or team member to perform it because it already takes care of your sales tracking, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Instead, you can focus more on course building.

We can not deny that online learning is a quick and booming industry. And we would like to take a slice from the ever-growing demand.

It’s ideal for entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners who wish to make online courses to a potentially profitable business. Folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income use Teachable to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 creators sold over $1 billion in classes and coaching for students all around the world as of now.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician hassle and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech novices will find it easy to go around and operate the program.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the site. There you may see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and courses. It’s pretty straightforward. It is easier for the user to upload files, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

You can integrate as many tools as you need as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You’ll also realize that it is easy to create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages with their power editor.

Teachable offers a large choice of themes for your online course website that you can select to make an appealing landing page. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

If you’re an advanced user, you have the option of inserting custom CSS or HTML to the Code Snippets region.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you would need while attempting to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.

You can offer your students discounts should they choose to buy another course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles from availing higher plans. It’s a good way of increasing conversions.

You can check student registration and engagement in regards to student tracking. You will receive reports on how your students interact with your classes, their completion rates, and where the students get stuck.

You don’t need to worry about monitoring sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with technology and marketing for you.

Completion Certificates

To access this feature, you’d need a Pro or Business Plan. The course will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, colour scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing via Teachable Payments. With this, you don’t have to find a 3rd party for payment processing.

You can select your payment currency from a broad assortment of choices. You can also create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

You have the choice of charging your classes as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription which your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Customer Support

The service is responsive. It has an extensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you may ask as you begin creating your first class. But, if you have any additional queries, you can create a ticket. Normally, you’ll hear back from service within one day. Professional Teachable customers have access to live chat service.

Now that I’ve talked about what I liked about Teachable, here are some things I don’t like:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5 percent transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone support.
  • There is no phone number to contact for queries.

Why should you try it?

I’m not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I have had many a day being very confused about the bunch. But with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. Akin to a duck testing the waters first, It does take some time to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach the way you want to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Princeables

You don’t need to think about marketing. All you have to worry about is making the content that you want to sell since Teachable has built-in features to look after taxes, payouts, affiliates, and writers.

To Sum It Up

Teachable is an approachable platform for complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who want to concentrate more on course production than the business’s technology and marketing aspect.

You may make your online course on any topic you love, and Teachable helps you turn that into a company. Why not start now?
