Teachable is the platform for you if you’re an entrepreneur or content creator looking for a way to transform knowledge into income.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) founded by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a course builder himself, grew frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms needed. He decided to create his own online learning platform with characteristics he envisioned his classes and students would like.

In 2020, sources say that Hotsmart obtained Teachable for approximately $250M.

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a business.

As mentioned previously, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech beginners will find it easy to go around and operate the program.

The dashboard is the first thing a user would see after registering on the site. There you may see headers like users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It is pretty straightforward. It is easier for the user to upload files, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive making it possible to incorporate as many tools as you want. You will also find that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all of the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need while trying to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your courses have performed in specific periods.

You can provide your students discounts should they choose to obtain another course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles from availing higher plans. It is a fantastic way of increasing conversions.

Completion Certificates

You’d need a Pro or Business Plan to get this feature. The course will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and title of the course. You may change elements of your certificate such as logo, color scheme, and pre-set images. Now that I’ve talked about what I liked about Teachable, here are a few things I do not like:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a totally free plan. But, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5 percent transaction fee for people who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone service.
  • There’s no phone number to contact for inquiries.

Why should you attempt it?

I am not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being very confused about the crowd. However, with Teachable, I found it fairly easy. It does take some time to explore the website, its features, and test stuff out. Akin to a duck testing the waters .

You can teach the way you would like to learn by using customization tools to personalize your content. Teachable Site Examples

You don’t have to think about marketing. All you’ve got to worry about is making the content you want to sell since Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and writers.

To Sum It Up

For complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to concentrate more on course creation than the business’s tech and marketing aspect, Teachable is an approachable platform.
