If you are an entrepreneur or content creator searching for a way to transform knowledge into income, Teachable is the platform for you.

Teachable is a learning management system (LMS) based by Angkur Nagpal as a side project. It was previously known as Fedora. Nagpal, a class builder himself, decided to create his own online learning platform with features that he envisioned his courses and students would enjoy after getting frustrated over the lack of direct accessibility to students some platforms needed.

In 2020, sources state that Hotsmart acquired Teachable for about $250M.

In A Nutshell Eugene Cho Remian Teachable

Teachable allows one to create and sell online classes and coaching with videos, quizzes, and lectures. It’s a straightforward and intuitive interface that makes it an excellent platform for complete beginners. It deals with your sales tracking, payment collections, and affiliates commissions. Thus, you don’t need to have a virtual assistant or team member to do it. Alternatively, you can concentrate more on course construction.

Who Uses Teachable?

We can not deny that we would like to take a slice from the ever-growing demand from the fast and booming industry of online learning.

It’s excellent for entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners who wish to make online courses into a potentially lucrative business. Teachable is used by folks like Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income to sell their courses to students.

You also have enterprises such as The New York Times, Shopify, and Penn Law.

More than 100,000 founders sold over $1 billion in classes and training for students all around the world as of now.

Here are some of the features I enjoyed in Teachable:

Ease of Use

Teachable’s best feature is being less of a technician headache and more of being your partner-in-arms to a company.

As stated earlier, Teachable prides itself on its simplicity of use. Tech beginners will find it easy to go around and operate the program.

When you register on the site, it leads you to the dashboard. There you will see headers such as users, websites, sales, emails, and classes. It is pretty straightforward. It is a lot easier for the user to upload documents, review analytics, issue refunds, and communicate with students.

Customization

You can integrate as many tools as you need as Teachable’s list of partners is fairly extensive. You’ll also realize that you can easily create multimedia lectures, videos, homepage, and landing pages using their power editor.

Users can select to create an appealing landing page with Teachable’s large selection of themes for your online course site. All you have to do is upload the logos, text, images and choose color schemes to fit your business’ branding.

You have the choice of inserting custom CSS or HTML into the Code Snippets region if you’re an advanced user.

Marketing, Student Tracking Tools, and Analytics Capabilities

It has all the necessary and essential sales tracking and analytics tools that you’d need while trying to analyze your course sales. You can see how well your classes have performed in specific phases.

You can offer your pupils discounts should they choose to buy a second course when you get access to advanced sales features like one-click upsells and bundles from availing higher plans. It is a fantastic means of increasing conversions.

You can check student registration and engagement when it comes to student tracking. You’ll get reports on how your students interact with your courses, their completion rates, and in which the students get stuck.

You do not need to worry about monitoring sales and student insights with their comprehensive dashboards. Teachable deals with tech and promotion for you.

Completion Certificates

You would need a Pro or Business Plan to access this feature. The class will award the certificates upon completion (Admin > Courses > Course > Certificates). There are templates available. Teachable will automatically insert your school name, student’s name, and name of the course. You may change aspects of your certificate such as logo, colour scheme, and preset pictures. But, you may also create one yourself using the block editor (rich text and Liquid/HTML blocks).

Payment Options

Teachable comes with its own refundable payment processing through Teachable Payments. With this, you do not have to get a 3rd party for payment processing.

You may select your payment money from a wide assortment of choices. You may also create coupons and discount codes for students and affiliate codes. Teachable will handle affiliate payouts automatically.

Teachable has options like Stripe and PayPal and advanced payment options like Visa and Mastercard.

Your pupils can pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You also have the choice of charging your courses as one-time purchases, monthly payments, or as a subscription.

Customer Support

The support is responsive. It has a comprehensive knowledge library with online lessons and lives webinars for common questions you might ask as you begin creating your first course. You can create a ticket if you have any additional questions. Usually, you’ll hear back from service within 24 hours. Professional Teachable clients have access to live chat service.

Here are a few things I don’t like about Teachable now that I have talked about what I liked about it:

  • No free plans.
  • Teachable doesn’t have a totally free plan. However, it does offer a 14-day trial.
  • 5 percent transaction fees
  • There’s a 5% transaction fee for those who opt for the Basic plan.
  • No phone support.
  • There is no phone number to contact for queries.

Why should you try it?

I am not the most tech-savvy man out there. Far from it, actually. I’ve had many a day being the most confused about the bunch. But with Teachable, I found it reasonably easy. Comparable to a duck testing the waters , It does take a while to explore the web site, its features, and test stuff out.

You can teach how you want to know by using customization tools to personalize your content. Eugene Cho Remian Teachable

You don’t have to worry about marketing. Teachable has built-in features to look after payouts, taxes, affiliates, and writers. So all you have to worry about is making the content you wish to sell.

To Sum It Up

For complete beginners and busy entrepreneurs who wish to focus more on course creation than the business’s tech and marketing aspect, Teachable is an approachable platform.

Teachable helps you turn the online courses you may make on any subject you love into a company. Why not start today?
